My daughter had Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease that started with high fever during the night..

Her fever did not go down after taking Paracetamol and she started having stomach pain. Early next morning, she started to have pain in her throat and fever shot up very high. I sent her to see pediatrician and doctor suspected Coxsackie which needed to admit in hospital. Blood test came out to confirm HFMD and immediately started antibiotic. Fever came down after injected antibiotic on her. Her case was mild, only few red rashes in her throat, none on hands or body. Her appetite was good and didn’t have any pain on swallowing food. She stayed in hospital for 4 nights to avoid spreading to other children. On the last day before discharge, doctor did a heart scan on her to make sure that her heart was not affected by the disease.

HFM disease is spreading fast in Penang. Doctor said almost all kindergartens this year have coxsackie cases. Make sure educate your child to wash hands frequently and do not put fingers in mouth and rub eyes.
