Brown Rice and Black Sticky Rice Has More Calories than White Rice

Some health conscious people choose to have brown rice or black glutinous rice instead of white rice as their health diet menu. However, nutritionists said brown rice has much more calories than white rice and can lead to weight gain.
Also beware of additional color added in brown rice and black glutinous rice which make the rice looks darker and brighter. A simple test to check for any color added is to rinse rice with water. If water turned into ink or brown color, must throw rice away.

Whenever I wash the black glutinous rice or black rice, the first rinse always has a medium purplish/burgundy kind of color. I think it's the natural color coming from the rice. Just like washing spinach, the water will turn greenish. However, if the rice looks really shiny & bright, almost like oil coated, I would be cautious.
